Sam Winchester was born in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of John and Mary Winchester and the younger brother of Dean Winchester. Up until he was six months old, everything was fine.

Then it all went to hell.

Literally.

Once, Sam was a student at Stanford University, preparing for law school and happy with his girlfriend Jess. He'd left hunting, left the life, and left his demons behind.

Or so he thought. Turns out it wasn't as easy as that. After John Winchester's disappearance and Jess's murder by the same yellow-eyed demon that killed Mary Winchester, everything changed.

Again.

These days, Sam's spending his time on the road with his brother Dean. Together, the two of them use their father's journal to guide them as they carry on their work as hunters-- tracking down and dealing with angry ghosts, spirits, spooks, monsters, and other problems of the supernatural type.

Oh, and they're also on the trail of the yellow-eyed demon.

Post-AHBL Update:

The demon's gone, but their problems aren't over. Thanks to the deal he struck to bring Sam back from death, Dean's got a year left to live.

Meanwhile, Sam's not planning on letting his brother die.

No matter what it takes.

Sam Winchester is six foot five, about 185 lbs, with brown hair that tends towards messiness and brown eyes. What scars he has are mostly on the inside.

There's a lot of those.

Additionally, he's prone to precognitive dreams and visions, as well as telekinesis. He can't control any of it, and both the visions and the TK hurt like hell.

Post-AHBL Update: The dreams have gone quiet since Dean shot the YED. So far as Sam's concerned, that part of his life is over.

(He has no idea how wrong he is.)
